Vodka.com - Expensive Drink!

Not an online auction this time, but a short piece of domain news.

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - The billionaire Russian entrepreneur behind Russia's biggest vodka maker has paid $3 million to acquire the vodka.com domain, part of a bid to expand into the U.S. market, a broker said on Thursday.

Sedo.com, the Web domain brokering unit that is part of Germany's United Internet AG, said it had acted as the sales agent in the deal.

Conglomerate Russian Standard Co., controlled by Roustam Tariko, paid $3 million to an undisclosed seller in a deal completed December 4, according to a Sedo.com spokesman. A New York-based spokeswoman for Russian Standard confirmed the $3 million price tag

For a drink made from potatoes, $3 million is no small potatoes in anyone's book.

Bob's Your Uncle!

A stonker of a doman name is eBay right now. It is:

What more could you ask for if you name was Robert? Even if your name is Jemima it would be one cool name to have.
Possible uses?~
  • Fan sites for all people with the name Robert?
  • Cub scout site (bob-a-job) :)
  • Small things that float on water?
I'm sure you could come up with a much better idea. At the moment Bob.com is themed around
Best Of Business: Gifts for every occasion.

The downside is to own this you are going to have to cough up a few bob. Well more than a few bob, because it has had 37 bids and is up to $270,000 and the reserve still hasn't been met yet.
To bid for Bob go here.

Or if you fancy something else the same seller Scripophily.com has a few other gems on sale right now to including Rambo.com, Womb.com, huh.com and capitals.com.

Quite a portfolio! See them here

Harry Potter dot cc

There's a domain name in the sedo auction just now that is simply magic? It is:

HarryPotter.cc

and it's only at $60 dollars so far, although it has over 2 and a half days to go so it will probably go much higher.

Sedo.com introduced their own domain auctions recently. SEDO stand for search engine for domains. They have over 4 million listed there so a huge bunch to choose from.

If you want to bid go here.

Lightbulb Painting

Found this painting by artist Fred Bell on ebay a while back. It's a painting of an energy saving bulb created in a day (looks like an 11w). The auction has ended but he has more paintings for sale.
Following in the footsteps of Duane Keiser, Fred creates a mini masterpiece in a day and auctions it online. The range of work varies quite drastically from light bulbs, to cats, to weird looking egg head people.

Take a peak.

Suits You Sir!

Fancy a new suit? Now that Winter's drawing in, it's time to wrap up. How about suit that will cover you up from head to toe? This one might be a little bit cold though (and heavy).

What kind of person would have this in their house? A Monty Python fan obviously. If you haven't seen the following clip, enjoy. If you have seen it before, you just know that you're going to watch it again. :)

Good Knight

Pretty Sad Domain name (No really!)

PrettySad.com is on sale on ebay right now with only just over 4 hours to go. The weird think about this auction is that the seller CreativeDomains has only put a dollar symbol ($) as the description. Is this worth big bucks? If you think so bid here.

Dolphin Friendly Diving (Too friendly?)

I've seen a few Diving action man figures complete with Dolphins being sold on eBay. Why do the pictures advertising the auction usually look something like this:

There seems to something just not quite right about that. Dignity for dolphins please, let's start a new campaign! Remember: they are intelligent creatures.
Bid here for the action man (+ unfortunate dolphin) or you can watch this dolphin trailer.

So long!

Viagra: Rise and shine campers!

Do you need an extra something to perk you up in the morning? No I'm not taking about chemically enhancing your chances, but rather radio! The domain name viagra.fm is up for auction on ebay at the moment, and the reserve price has not been met.

FM stands for the Federated States of Micronesia, but many domainers use it more as a mnemonic for the FM radio band.

Seller Sunkissed2006 suggests marketing it as Forhim. Funnily enough, the seller also added that a lot of people were contacting him regarding the purchase of viagra, but this auction is for the domain only folks.

If you feel you need a pick-me-up bid here. ;)

Bond Movies on eBay (007 domains)

Seller buypoker is auctioning off his James Bond domains that he has had since 2000. He is selling bondmovie.com and 007movie.com. These are excellent domains if you are a Bond fan. Traffic to these domains increases every time a new James Bond movie is released, so they should be pretty hot at the moment, what with Daniel Craig starring in the just released Casino Royale. Do they make money though? Seller says:
I have made $20 in revenue already this month from these domains, they are begging to be developed. Offers in the $xxx range have been received before.
James Bond has been pretty cheesy of late and I wasn't fussed upon hearing that Daniel Craig had the lead role (although many Bond fans were up in arms about it). Seeing the trailer changed my mind. This is the first time ever that I have been excited about going to see a Bond film. Yes, excited. The Bourne Identity was like James Bond with balls. Craig plays a much tougher Bond, and (judging by the trailer anyway) is like Jason Bourne with balls.
Bid here.

Babies for Sale Online?

Seeing this on eBay I had to look twice, and then a third time just to be sure. What at first looked like a baby was actually a sculpture by Kim Van de Wetering. The detail is incredible and the baby even has a name: Sarah.

Sarah is a gorgeous newborn baby girl with the sweetest expression and wonderful chubby 3/4 limbs. Her proportions are absolutely beautiful and she is a joy to hold!
It is almost so real it is scary. Even the eyelashes have been hand rooted! Just leaves me wondering who would buy this lifelike baby? The detailed modelling process reminds me of work by artist Ron Mueck .

If you want a baby that won't keep you up at night bid here.

Balls to you (Juggling balls that is)

Not really a weird auction this one but I thought that I'd post it anyway. Found this clip of the innovative juggler on YouTube and wasn't very impressed at first but found myself almost hypnotised by the movement of the balls.

Some might say this is cheating but it definitely adds an extra dimension to juggling. Have you tried juggling lately? If you can't quite do the 3-chainsaws-in-the-air-at-once trick yet, bid here for juggling equipment to perfect your party piece.

(big plastic cone not included).

Spooky Domain Name Skull.net on eBay

Did you have a spooky Halloween this year? Make it even spookier next year with this spooky domain name on eBay right now which has just over 5 hours to go before it's dead and buried. Skull.net is on up for auction and bidding currently stands at $1,025 with 14 bids but the reserve has not been met yet.

So if you think your bid could be in with a ghost of chance bid here.

Shaving While High: Dax's Moustache

Dax sold his moustache (or mustache) a while back on eBay and got some a few bids on it. The problem however was to transport it whole in the shape of a moustache (and bonus soul patch) to the winning bidder. Watch his valiant efforts and the lengths he goes to to preserve the facial hair's sculpted form.

P2P.com - Peer to Peer domain name!

Another huge domain name is on eBay. It is:

It' s a 3 character dot com and is the usual abbreviation for "peer to peer", as in peer to peer networks like kazaa, or limewire that share files between computers.

It's had 21 bids to date, and bidding has reached $40,000 but the reserve still has not been met! How high will it go? Click here to find out, or put in a bid if you a have deep pockets!

Saddam.com Domain Name on eBay

Yes that's right the former ruler of Iraq, Saddam has his namesake up for auction on eBay right now. At this moment the bidding stands at $2,751 after 18 bids, but I can imagine that going a lot higher. Saddam Hussein, reported by Mercury News to have been NOT a dictator, is on trial just now for war crimes. Judge Abdullah al-Amiri said

You are not a dictator. You were not a dictator. However, the people or the individuals and officials surrounding you created a dictator.

This will obviously anger lots of folks because from where they were sitting he looked an awful lot like a dictator.

Saddam is now synonymous with the former Iraqi leader, but let us not forget it is just a first name and many other people may want to buy it for something completely unrelated to Hussein. To keep an eye on it, or put in a bid for it click here.

*edit: Auction ended at US $3,149.00

Seattle Supersonics Shaving Bag

Yes you can sell almost anything on eBay! Even a 15 year old skanky shaving bag.
It has a broken zipper, and it comes complete with holes (tiny apparently) and toothpaste stains.
Maybe this will have some sort of sentimental value to someone, or a die-hard Supersonics fan, I don't know.

It does have 8 bids so far though, maybe it's the free shipping which is attracting the bidders?
If you are a Supersonics fan here is the link to the auction.

Dunkin Donuts Drinking Cup

Another weird auction that seems to be attraction a lot of bids is this one from seller ezas123, the same seller that sold the Kool Aid Packet. Incredibly, it's had over 9000 views, and 28 bids so far. Why, for goodness sake it's just a Dunkin Donuts Cup?
The auction listing tells us that the new slogan of the company is

America Runs on Dunkin

but the seller does not seem too enamoured with the service he/she received and has a minor rant about it! It comes with a bonus gift, but it would have to be one pretty amazing gift for me to put in an offer as the current bid stands at £1,375.00

Duane Keiser's Painting a day

Duane Keiser is an artist (born 1966) from South Carolina who makes one painting every day and sells it on eBay. There is not much information on Duane's auction listings other than:
"Postcard Paintings by Duane Keiser: original postcard-sized oil paintings. I make one painting each day. Google my name for more details."
What's weird about this auction? Well an artist actually making money from their work is an oddity in itself, but this artist is using the using the power of blogging and eBay to get the work out to as many people as possible.

You can bid for "Strawberries No.7" here, or see other work by Duane here.

Tinkerbell Faerie (fairy) doll figure

Ever believe in faeries at the bottom of your garden? If you do, take a look at this auction ending very soon. This mini sculpture is made of polymer clay and and is one of a kind. The attention to detail is just incredible. The seller faerielady states in the description that no molds were used in the creation of this miniature work of art. Yes that's right, entirely sculpted by hand. Pretty impressive, might almost have me believing in fairies!

Porn Organisation

Like it or loathe it, you can't deny it, porn is big business, and a large part of the world wide web is made up of it. On eBay right now is a huge opportunity for anyone interested in buying a dot org domain name with one of the most popular keywords typed in each month. It' would be an ideal name for companies like Hustler or Playboy to bid on and own, but unfortunately it will probably take a large company with a large bank balance to own it, as the starting bid is $1000,000!

That sounds like a lot but some things never go out of fashion. I'm hoping that a billionaire practical joker buys the name and redirects it to the official Vatican website. Is it just me or does anyone else think like that?

Here is the link to the auction.

(Don't drink the) Kool-Aid Packet

Here is an auction for a Kool-Aid Packet on ebay. It's had almost 20,000 views so far, and is at the top of the ebay pulse chart. What's so special about a packet of Kool-Aid? Well, nothing really, other than a large number of the 913 people found dead at the 'Jonestown massacre' were found to have drunk Kool-Aid laced with poison. Or did they? According to Wikipedia those at Jonestown actually drank a brew of Flavor Aid, a lesser known brand. Kool-Aid was just a better known brand at the time, unfortunately for them, as the name "Kool-Aid drinker' has become a term for crackpots and kooks.

Don't drink the Kool-Aid! But if you want to here the link. :)

*Edit: Sold for $2,025.01 after 54 bids

200 Year Old Comics

Here is another absolutely huge comic book auction. It's an auction of many complete runs and full sets of titles. The likes of this you probably won't see again! The downside is that you will need a small fortune to even enter the auction as it has had an incredible 138 bids already, reaching $110,100. I'd wager that it will go much, much higher as even one Donald Duck comic went for sold for $4049.00 recently .

Almost everything is in here from the usual suspects like Batman and Superman, to lesser known characters like Plastic man and Marvel Boy. Some of them are very old specimens while others have had famous owners (Bob Kane, Stan Lee, Jerry Siegel
).

The seller of the comics obviously knows their stuff; there is so much detailed information in the auction listing that it can only be a labour of love.

At the time of writing this post the end of bidding is still over 3 days away, so watch this space.
*Edit: 148 bids and upto $150,000 now

What a ROTTEN auction!

Actually it's not a rotten auction at all but another huge one. Rotten.com get a lot of traffic every day and I'm sure this domain will get a fair bit too. Rody192 is selling this gem and there are already 12 bids up to $2000.

If you fancy putting in a bid here is the link.

Darn, Drat, and Rats..err..Rat (mummified)!

Why oh why oh why....? Yes the title says it all. One dead rat is up for auction on eBay.
Who wouldn't want one of these? Such an item is sure to gain in value over time and become a treasured family heirloom......NOT! :D
UK bidders only for this one. Norwich is where the recently deceased rodent hails from.

Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig!
'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!

THIS IS AN EX-RAT!

For all you dirty rats out there bid here.

Comic Book Quackers!

Sorry for the awful pun, but really you would have to be crackers to pay this much for a comic!

I love comics, not so fond of Donald Duck though; more of an Spiderman, Batman, 2000ad kind of guy. Bidding for this one has reached $3,450 and the reserve still hasn't been met! Comic collectors must be crazier than domain name collectors!

The going rate for these things apparently is nearer $5000-$6,500 so snap up a bargain here.

*Edit: went for $4049.00

Internet's Largest Orange Dot Auction?

Here's a very weird one for you: An orange dot.
I don't have much to say about it other than it is orangey (strictly speaking
#ff6633), and dot shaped.
It is being auctioned by WorldFirstAuctions.com

I don't have a whole lot else to say about this one. Hmmmm...except that it has had 30 bids!
See for your self here.

Poker King Domain Name

What is it with Poker domain names? Just like buses, there are none for ages and then 3 (or 4) come along all at once. The domain dot Ki serves Kiribati (Gilbert Islands).

If you buy the domain name poker.ki it doesn't have to have anything to do with Kiribati. I think it is very memorable because it could be turned into the logo above, with the Ki starting off the word "King".

You might feel like a king if you win this name. Bid HERE.

Chest Advertising for Charity

Online on eBay now from seller davinci*s_code_flock_girl is an auction to advertise on her chest for 30 days. Her name seems to change almost as often as the auctions, well not quite but possibly the seller has changed her name to catch traffic from people searching for the da vinci code.

What's weird about this auction? Well, what I find weird is that it has had over 500 views and over 30 bids reaching $200 so far, but THIS recent auction to advertise on a construction worker's back for LIFE, didn't receive any bids!

What's the difference? Do advertisers only like pretty faced girls rather than workie's backs, or is it that they don't want to permanently brand someone (just in case they change their company identity in today's fast paced world)?

Or it could be that 100% of the final sale price goes to Breast Cancer Awareness. Maybe eBayers are more interested in helping good causes than I thought. See it here.

Incredible Domain Name Bundle

If you are interested in the domain name market, this is definitely a way to get your foot in the door. Seller antiqueanimalprints is selling an absolutuly HUGE bundle of domains. Sometimes people sell a bundle of domains usually because most of them are pretty iffy and only have 1 or 2 good ones. But almost every one of these is excellent

Bidding has reached US $10,095.00 but the reserve has not been reached. If by the end of the auction the reserve still hasn't been reached then the seller has said that they will consider selling the name off individually.
True they're not dot coms, but cctlds. Bear in mind though, to buy equivalent dot coms would cost you millions if not billions. Grab a bargain while you can!

Bolt In Sealed Jar

Need more IRON in your diet. How about this jar of Sweet Bell Peppers Sandwich Toppers then? The jar is completely sealed and has never been opened, But inside the jar at the bottom is a metal bolt. As the eBay description says, I'm sure a lawyer would have a field day with this!

Sea Monster in Tampa Florida

Seamystery is selling this Sea Monster which was found in Tampa, Florida.
It has attracted quite a bit of interest and 10 bids already, although I have my doubts about the veracity of this mummified sea creature.

Back Tattoo Advertising Auction

Back space for Sale. If you have a company or website you might want to take a look at this auction from pincussion345.
He is a construction worker form New Jersey, so you advert will be pretty much exposed the whole year long. =P
Bidding starts at a very reasonable $399. Where else could you buy a lifetime advert for that?
The whole back is not for tattooing just a 6 x 9 inch spot on the upper back but more space could be negotiable.

The picture above shows my bulbboy.co.uk logo (maybe I'll put in a bid), but my guess is that golden palace casino will be on there soon enough!

Check it our here

The 'Tache is Back!

Daxalax's first moustache auction was pulled by eBay for having a link to his site biggnuts.com
He now has brought his moustache auction back bigger and badder than before. You can try before you buy now. The picture above is an image of Shoemoney sporting "the Captain" (what Dax lovingly calls the facial hairpiece).

Bidding has reached over $100 and Shoemoney is in the lead. He must want it real bad.

End Of The World Is Nigh!

666 according to the bible (and Iron Maiden) is the number of the beast.
What is today's date? It's 6-6-6 !
Or more precisely 6/6/06. Last time this happened was one hundred years ago.
Don't worry the world won't end, it'll probably be here still in another hundred years and people will be worrying about the same things.
But what will auctions look like in one hundred years? Will we still have online auctions then, weird or otherwise?

Here are some 666 inspired "evil" auctions for you now:We all have heard that 'the love of money is the root of all evil' but is this banknote the most evil dollar bill ever?
Check out the serial number, it's:spooky, no?

#66666666

Or this car registration plate which would be good for the son of satan, or alternatively someone called Terry. (I always imagined that if Satan was to have a son he'd be called Keith, not Damien).

And last but not least is this VINTAGE Iron Maiden t-shirt from MrRetroClothing. It's obviously devilish because it has lasted since 1982 without ageing, it looks almost pristine in this photo.

Whatever you do today be careful and don't walk under any ladders.

Duck Swallows Alien

This is the startling X-ray image of a bird with strange stomach contents. All funds from this auction go towards helping rehabilitate other birds at the International Bird Rescue and Research Center of California.

One cynical email the seller got said:
"How hard would it be to open that duck up, plant an alien look-a-like toy or figure & sew the duck back up and take the X-ray giving the appearence of an alien"

Possibly true, given that the poor duck didn't survive but who would go to an elaborate hoax like that when the most likely cause of the alien head is an 'anomaly of internal organs'. The seller has had a few unkind emails too, but they seem to be missing the point that it is a charity aucion.

Nearly 100,000 people have looked at it, a huge number due to the news coverage it has had, even down under in Australia.

It's an excellent image in my opinion and would look great framed. Bids have already reached over $4000.
If you dont' have that cash to spend you could always make a donation at the IBRRC.org website HERE. The IBRRC have been
helping saved oiled wildlife since 1971.
You can even purchase an alien duck shirt there too.

It also looks, to me, like Eddie the Iron Maiden mascot. So if you are a die hard bird lover, or Maiden fan bid now.

Another Poker domain Name.

Ok I lied (or maybe I really was bluffing), there's another one. Yes, another poker domain name is on eBay.
This time it's :

IO stands for the Indian Ocean. Not got quite the same ring to it as UG for Uganda which I told you about the other day, but still I imagine it's gonna go quite high. It's already over $300.

Casino.IO sold on sedo.com back in March of this year, will this go higher? Put it in your watchlist to find out.

Here is the LINK.

ps. Just thought of something for IO: IN/OUT. I'm sure something could be made of that in an advertising spiel. "Are you sitting IN or sitting this round OUT?"

Are you an Online POKER Nut?

If you are take a swatch at this auction for yet another cctld (country code top level domain).
After sex.nr reached over $500 very recently, it's anyone's guess at how much this will go for. Admittedly .UG is not the best known extension, but still quite memorable, you could use it for an UnderGround poker site, or site of UGly poker players?

With the online poker craze the way it is at the moment, I'll be keeping my eye on this one.

Or am I bluffing? :P

Are you hairy enough? Do you wake up with a little or no peach fluff on your face and just wish that you could look a bit more manly?
Well look no further, because seller daxalax is selling his

Excellent career move for a budding actor, you might just get that next big role, or use is simply to keep your top lip warm! The choice is yours!

SEX.NR

Sorry to deliver this so late but I just found it on eBay.

The domain name www.sex.nr is up for auction with about 50 mins to go ending at 21:21:16 PDT.

This is a domain name with a very obscure extension, but very popular keyword. How popular? Well probably the most typed in keyword every month. Well, that's human nature for you :)

NR stands for Nauru, I know, I'd never heard of it either! The Republic of Nauru, is an island nation in the Micronesian South Pacific.

Sex.com sold recently for 14 million dollars!

You don't often get the chance to bid on a 3 letter cctld like this!

Have fun bidding.

Get fat quickly!
Do you like eating at McDonalds? Would you do it everday if you could. Well, you can follow in the footsteps of Morgan Spurlock and try and pickle your liver with this card that gives you free McDonalds meals.

Unfortunately, or probably fortunately, you can only visit once per day to pick up your free medium extra value meal. This was a limited edition card, apparently only given to VIPs like top premiership footballers (who are supposed to be fit and have lots of money so no real need for a card like this, go figure??)

Go on have a bid and kiss your toned little body goodbye.

Do you want fries with that?
Be quick to bid on this.. um...er...masterpiece!
This Diana painting by Ken Wessel was featured on New Zealand TV and was at the centre of their memorial celebrations.
If you bid make sure you have space because it's pretty big, being 2.5 x 2 metres.
Seller gives no detail as to what it's painted with; oil, acrylic, tempera, who knows?

Bidding starts at a modest £15,000 and you can buy it now for £25,000.
A touch overpriced if you ask me, but then it does come with a gold Italian leaf frame with white inner silk surround.

Any Diana fans out there?

Huge Alien Sighted.........

On ebay right now you can bid for the body of an alien. It's huge!
Definitely a conversation piece. Forget Alien Autopsy starring Ant & Dec.
This towers over their little alien.

This has to be seen to be believed, bids have reached over £1000, so if you want to freak out your neighbours bid now.

If I had some spare cash (and space to put it) I would put in a bid.
As Newt said to Ripley: "There are real monsters, aren't there?" and believe me this is a Monster auction.

*Edit* Auction reached £2,159.oo

NL Rebel is at it again.

Another eBay member offered to frame some stuff for nlrebel and he's making an auction out of it! Yes the crazy man will make an auction out of anything! At the bottom of his auction it states that:

*You are bidding on every single scrap that came from the making of this frame!

Also he states that this is his longest auction ever. I don't think that means longest running auction, but longest page; for those of you that have seen his auctions before you may have noticed that he updates them often, so you have to scroll down, and down, and...........you get the picture. (or at least the scraps if you bid on this auction!)

How long will it go? Tune in to find out.

Not a Chocolate Starfish.

Yes, nothing at all to do with Limp Bizkit, we have here for your viewing pleasure a rarely seen item: A 6 armed (or legged) starfish!

Seller bearsamy1 says:
"it was found on Block Island Sound in Rhode Island. I have
looked all around and have never seen another starfish like this.
If you are an avid starfish collector, you just have to have this. It
is only about 3" wide."

I had no idea that there were avid starfish collectors out there!

Ello, Ello...

Why the echo?
One for each head of course.

Dethcheez on ebay is sellling a
2 headed (expired)
turtle.

Was it really born with 2 heads?

Er... no, but it fooled me.
Auction states that:

"This One Of A Kind Gaff
Was Handcrafted
From Real Turtle Parts"

What some people get up to, I don't know...

DIET COKE ANYONE?

How 'bout this lovely bottle from the 60's?
Elegant, trim,
slender, very beautiful, except
for the dead bugs
in the bottom. Almost looks
like a squished Photoshop image.

They don't make 'em quite like this anymore.

You can own it by bidding here.
It stands 20 inches tall,
and it is 2 and a half inches in
diameter at the base. A must for any weird collector, go on start a bottle collection today!

Update*
Unfortunately this auction ended with no bids.
Weird Auctions getting Weirder
Up for auction on ebay is a Hair pie,

thankfully it doesn't have long to go.:p

Value for money or what, it's a whole
9 inches!

The winning bidder will also receive a

"CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY,
SIGNED BY THE ARTIST"

If you win , just don't get furballs and choke.
